The British Indian performer tales the story of Krishnan, a middle-class Indian native who journeys to Great Britain in seek of personal enlightenment. Here, we’re all too familiar with the trend that sees young people travelling afar to ‘find themselves.’ Now, Khan’s reversal of this well-known social trope offers a refreshing and hilarious perspective.

Ruth Kapadia from Arts Council England has praised this small-theatre hit, describing it as “perfectly paced, charming and beautifully written.”

Named as one of Bristol’s most influential young people for his work in theatre and comedy, Khan has since been selected by Channel 4's Random Acts scheme, where 12 of the South West's most promising filmmakers are chosen to create their first broadcast quality film. Now, you’ve got the chance to see this young performer before he hits the big time.

While in conversation with our sister website 365Bristol.com, Khan told Editor Hannah Moll a bit about the inspirations behind An Indian Abroad:

“I was irritated by stories driven by a white male adventurer who explored these ‘exotic’ and ‘foreign’ lands as if the brief encounters he had could accurately depict their worldview and culture. So, I decided I was going to flip these concepts on their head to show how ludicrous and ignorant this mindset is.” Read more from our exclusive interview here.

Experience Khan's hilarious An Indian Abroad on Wednesday, 6th February 2019 at The Rondo Theatre - 8:00 pm. Grab your ticket here.  The Rondo Theatre is located: St. Saviours Road, Bath, BA1 6RT.
