The Holburne Museum is a majestic art gallery based in the heart of the city. With gorgeous gardens, protected architecture, a Garden Cafe, and fantastic exhibitions, the Holburne Museum is the perfect place for a family day out, catch up with friends or a romantic afternoon.

 

Inside, find collections showcasing 18th-century porcelain, sculpture, and paintings, while temporary exhibitions invite contemporary viewing. Here are five fantastic events happening this September:

 

Adult workshop: Craft a Bold Beaded Necklace 

Design then forge your perfect statement necklace at this fabulous September workshop. Learn how to paint novel patterns, and choose from a range of fastenings and ribbons. A perfect opportunity for a creative catch up. 

When: 8th September, 2 pm – 4:30 pm

Journey to Persia: Miss Tanner and her Collection

One of Holburne’s newest exhibitions, Bath to Baghdad, looks at the extraordinary collection of Middle Eastern art from Ellen Tanner. Tanner was one of the first women to travel solo to The Middle East in the late 1800’s, and after settling in Bath, she gifted a vast array of art to Holburne including metalwork, textiles, and woodwork. This talk shall discuss the context of the items on display for the first time following a major conservation project. 

When: 12th September, 1 – 2 pm.

Gin Garden

Join Great Western Wine at the Holburne Museum for Gin Garden! Take the opportunity to try out and discuss a fantastic range of gins from across the UK in Holburne’s gorgeous garden settings. With creators, suppliers, and experts, you’ll be able to grasp your perfect tipple is in no time. 

When: 13th September, 6: 30 pm – 8:30 pm

Saturday Art Club: Characters in Clay

Holburne’s Saturday Art Club is a fortnightly workshop for young, aspiring artists. Suited to ages 5 – 11, the workshop encourages participants to expand their skills and creativity through an understanding of the galleries’ collections and special creative tasks, allowing young artists to create something unique to take home. This time, the children will have the opportunity to explore 18th-century paintings, and then create a portrait out of clay. 

When: 15th September, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.
Tickets: £10 

 

Holburne Up Late

Don’t usually get the chance to visit the gallery during the day? In this exciting monthly opportunity, Holburne opens its doors after-hours. On every last Friday of the month, Holborne allows visitors to explore the gallery at night and listen to music in the Garden café. Enjoy a cocktail in the cafe and admission to their special exhibition for just £10.

When: 28th September, 5 pm – 9 pm
