Mind The Gap theatre company are bringing their production of ‘Mia: Daughters of Fortune’ to the egg theatre in Bath on Tuesday 19th June 2018. The play considers the challenges that face young disabled parents and provides a powerful but comedic insight into real life type scenarios. 

 

Mind The Gap were formed in 1988 and have worked with disabled actors and artists to produce cutting edge national theatre ever since. It is one of Europe’s leading learning disability theatre companies and aims to give equal opportunities to all performers.

Mia explores the hurdles of having a baby in today’s society and tackles the idea of what it means to be a parent. The play will be performed by four learning-disabled artists, and has been created and directed by Joyce Nga Yu Lee. 

 

Mia is part of a four part project - ‘Daughters of Fortune’. An interdisciplinary undertaking by Mind The Gap, medical experts, geneticists, social workers, council officers and advocates, the series aims to destroy stigma and improve the experiences of learning disabled parents.

The production has already been met with rave reviews, with audiences saying it strikes exactly the right balance, being thoroughly thought provoking yet entertaining throughout.

The production will take place at 1pm and 7pm on Tuesday 19th June

 

Tickets are £8.50, £7.50 for Children and £6.50 for schools.
