Little Angel Theatre set to bring much-loved children's book to life at The Egg this month

Posted on: 16 May 2018

Beloved children's story Handa's Surprise is set to receive the on-stage treatment this month, with two shows scheduled at the egg on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May. Presented by Little Angel Theatre, the production gives Bath audiences a special opportunity to see Eileen Browne's hugely popular tale like never before.

Catch Handa's Tale at the egg on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May 2018.

Having previously performed a string of sell-out shows across the country, Handa's Surprise transports audiences to rural Kenya, following in Handa's footsteps as she travels to see her best friend, Akeyo, in a neighbouring village. Handa is taking seven delicious fruits as a surprise – but seven different animals have seven very different ideas! Could you resist the sweet-smelling guava? How about a ripe red mango or a tangy purple passion fruit?

Physical performance, puppetry, live music and song combine to create a magical production with some audience participation – come and share in the magical tangerine surprise!

Since it was first published in 1995, Eileen Browne’s book has gone on to become a modern children’s classic, earning praise as one of the best culturally diverse picture-books in the UK. Little Angel’s lively adaptation has been a huge hit across the country since it was first performed in 2012.

You can catch Handa's Surprise at the egg theatre, Theatre Royal Bath on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May - tickets are available now and can be found here.
