Europe’s largest waterslide opens an hour outside Bath
Posted on: 17 Aug 2017The Tropical Cyclone opened yesterday at the Center Parcs in Longleat Forest, less than an hour from Bath, becoming the largest waterslide in Europe.
There was good news for the South West’s thrill-seekers yesterday, as the largest four-person interactive waterslide in Europe was unveiled at the Center Parcs in Longleat Forest, just outside Bath.
The Tropical Cyclone comprises 142 metres of dramatic twists and stomach-churning drops, making for a 60-second adrenaline rush, with riders reaching speeds of up to 40km/h. Added to this is the slide’s spectacular centre-piece; a cone with a diameter of 15 metres tipping its incumbents at jaw-dropping angles to briefly emulate zero-gravity conditions, before sending them shooting down into a splash pool.
What’s more, the waterslide is entirely interactive, meaning that riders can choose from four themes, including ‘forest’, ‘nature’, ‘waterfalls’ and ‘jungles’, to determine the immersive audio-visual accompaniment to the experience.
Accompanying the Tropical Cyclone at Center Parc’s transformed swimming area is an all-new, two-person waterslide called The Typhoon. Though smaller, the thrills engendered are by no means diminished, with speeds reaching up to 45km/h.
There is also an upgraded family play area for those less-inclined for high speed riding.
