EDINBURGH PREVIEW: SOPHIE DUKER AND JAYDE ADAMS at Komedia in Bath on Wednesday

EDINBURGH PREVIEW: SOPHIE DUKER AND JAYDE ADAMS will be live at Komedia in Bath on Wednesday 24 July 2019

SOPHIE DUKER

As a “sexy-cerebral comedy underdog” she is quickly establishing herself as one of the most exciting new acts on the circuit. In 2018 Sophie starred in a comedy pilot for Channel 4 called Riot Girls, as well as a new pilot for Comedy Central UK called What I Wish I’d Said.

She is also a comedy writer whose funnies you might have heard in the following places: the British Broadcasting Co-orporation (Famlam, BBC2; The News Quiz, The Now Show, BBC Radio 4) and Cartoon Network (The Amazing World of Gumball).

Sophie is an alumna of the prestigious Pleasance Comedy Reserve, has been shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award and is a previous finalist of the Funny Women Awards.

She founded and hosts MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRLS, an international, intersectional feminist comedy show that appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016 and 2017. Since January 2018 Sophie also hosts Wacky Racists, a ‘crazy stupid cool’ comedy cabaret gameshow, in a monthly residency at the Aces & Eights.

JAYDE ADAMS

Award-winning comedian and proud Bristolian Jayde Adams is an uncut gem; a force of nature; dangerous and unafraid; the future.. it’s safe to say that when Dawn French says “Jayde Adams is the 3rd funniest woman in the world. Fact,” she might just be onto something.

Besides being nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2016 Edinburgh Comedy Festival, making the BBC New Talent Hotlist 2017 Jayde has recently appeared on our screens as a guest on Roast Battle, Live At The Comedy Store, The Chris Ramsay Show (Comedy Central), 8 Out of 10 CatsDoes Countdown (Channel 4), 8 Out of 10 Cats (E4), Dara O’Briain’s Go 8 Bit(Dave) and Russell Brand’s Stand Off for Comic Relief (BBC).

2019 will see Jayde host Amusical for Comedy Central bringing the cult live musical show to the screen for the very first time, as well as a brand new podcast with Scott Mills for BBC Sounds in the lead up to Eurovision.

As a live Act, Jayde is in-demand having performed the main comedy arena at Latitude and MC’s regularly for Knock2Bag and BBC Studios, as well as co-hosting the popular monthly night Amusical with Kiri Pritchard Maclean and Dave Cribbs. She is also the face of Sun Bingo as seen in the popular adverts directed by Jack Clough, who most recently directed the BAFTA-winning comedy series People Just Do Nothing – with the catchphrase #AreYouGonnaBingo.

It’s hard to believe that she started out life as a fishmonger in Asda, and had no idea that she was any good at anything.
